Saffron, have you read Julia Armfields work? This reminded me of her short story collection Salt Slow! She writes similarly strange, haunting stories that push human-animal boundaries. Anyway, I really love how you capture the uncanny and visceral in your writing. I also love salmon skin.

Oh, this is fantastic! Both visceral and minimalist, and playing with the idea of inhabiting something both dead and alive and shiny!

Somewhat off topic, but if you left fish scales on your skin for long enough, I'm pretty sure they'd graft. So maybe salmon skin is possible? Lovely poem, too!

I once wanted to be a sunfish. Their scales shined in the water. I held my breath long as I could to see them toss sand and make a rock nest. Some days you envision moments to be one with the vision that carries you to the next second and find the time disappear before you knew that one day you would grow older; the sun still shines, salmon skin wrinkles . Reflects wise moments past that last while you remember that moment. P.S. your audio voice over was recorded too fast.

Lovely words, as always, Richard. And thank you for the feedback, I will slow down.
